July 1st – International Joke day
July 1st is celebrated as the international joke day. There are no certain facts about how the day originated but many believe that author Wayne Reinagel created the day in 1994 to promote joke books. But today the day is celebrated to encourage people to share jokes and smiles along with happiness while keeping busy with their daily chores.
July 2nd – World UFO Day
World UFO Day is an international awareness day to observe Unidentified Flying Objects. July 2 commemorates the supposed UFO crash in the 1947 Roswell incident. The stated goal of the July 2 celebration is to raise awareness of “the undoubted existence of UFOs” and to encourage governments to declassify their files on UFO sightings. People around the world who are interested in UFO hold sky watching parties in their countries.
July 3rd – International Plastic Bag Free Day
July 3rd is celebrated as International Plastic Bag Free Day. It was created as a global initiative to eliminate the single use plastic bags. Plastic bags are used for a maximum 25 minutes yet it takes more than 100 years to decompose once thrown away. The day is about raising awareness about the plastic bag pollution and taking measures to reduce using them. People around the world are being encouraged to use alternatives for plastic bags.
July 6th – International Kissing Day / World Zoonoses Day
July 6th is declared as International Kissing Day, an unofficial holiday first started in England and became popular in other countries in early 2000. Events are being held all over the world to simply celebrate a kiss. These events are mainly focus on young lovers yet kissing has a very wide capacity.
Also July 6th is known as World Zoonoses Day, a day to celebrate French biologist Louis Pasteur. On July 6th in 1885 Louis Pasteur administered the first vaccine against rabies. Zoonosis is a infectious disease such as rabies or ebola caused by a pathogen such as a virus or bacteria that has jumped from an animal to human.
July 7th – World Chocolate Day
July 7th is celebrated as the world chocolate day. The observance of World Chocolate Day date back to 2009, and some suggest July 7 in particular celebrates the introduction of chocolate to Europe in 1550.
July 11th – World Population Day
World population day is celebrated on the 11th July every year. It is celebrated to raise awareness on world population and issues that comes with it. The day was suggested by Dr. K.C. Zachariah in which population reaches Five Billion when he worked as Sr Demographer at World Bank in 1987. July 11th is the approximate day that the world population reached five billion.
July 15th – World Youth Skill Day
July 15th is celebrated as the world Youth Day. It was officially declared on 2014 UN general assembly. The goal of the day is to achieve better socio-economic conditions for today’s youth as a means of addressing the challenges of unemployment and under employment. World Youth Skills Day 2021 will pay tribute to the resilience and creativity of youth through the crisis.
July 17th – World Emoji Day / World Day for International Justice
July 17th is known as the world emoji day. It was created by Jeremy Burge in 2014. In 2016, Google changed the appearance of Unicode character U+1F4C5 📅 CALENDAR to display 17 July on Android, g-mail, Hangouts, and Chrome OS products. As of 2020, the majority of major platforms had switched to show July 17th on this emoji, to avoid confusion on World Emoji Day.
Also July 17th is known as World Day for International Justice. It is celebrated around the world as part of an effort to recognize the emerging system of international criminal justice. July 17 is the date of the adoption of the treaty that created the International Criminal Court.
July 18th – World Listening Day / International Nelson Mandela Day
July 18th is known as the world listening day. It was first established on 2010 and the date is the birthday of the R. Murray Schafer, a world renowned composer. He developed the fundamental ideas and practices of acoustic ecology in the 1970s. These inform the current, burgeoning interest in our changing acoustic environment. Thus, World Listening Day honors Schafer’s contribution to understanding our world.
July 18th is also named as Nelson Mandela Day, to honor Nelson Mandela. July 18th is Nelson Mandela’s birth date. In 2010 the first Nelson Mandela Day was celebrated by the UN.
July 22nd – Pi Approximation Day
July 22nd is know as the Pi Approximation Day. Since the mathematical constant π is equal to 22/7 . The world Pi day is also celebrated on March 14th because 3.14 is the first three digits in π.
July 28th – World Hepatitis Day / World Nature Conservation Day
World Hepatitis Day is celebrated annually on the July 28th to raise awareness of hepatitis. World Hepatitis Day is one of 11 official global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization (WHO). Following the adoption of a resolution during the 63rd World Health Assembly in May 2010, World Hepatitis Day was given global endorsement as the primary focus for national and international awareness-raising efforts and the date was changed to July 28 (in honour of Nobel Laureate Baruch Samuel Blumberg, discoverer of the hepatitis B virus, who celebrates his birthday on that date). The resolution resolves that “28 July shall be designated as World Hepatitis Day in order to provide an opportunity for education and greater understanding of viral hepatitis as a global public health problem, and to stimulate the strengthening of preventive and control measures of this disease in Member States.”
World nature conservation day is observed on July 28th annually, it acknowledges that a healthy environment is the foundation for a stable and healthy society. It is celebrated on 28 July to raise awareness about protecting the natural resources and to make people understand the importance of the conservation of nature.
July 29th – International Tiger Day
International tiger day is an annual celebration to raise awareness of conservation of tigers. It was created at the 2010 St. Petersburg tiger summit in Russia. The goal of the day is to promote a global system for protecting the natural habitats of tigers and to raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues.
July 30th – International Friendship Day
The first World Friendship Day was proposed for 30 July in 1958, by the World Friendship Crusade. On 27th April 2011 the General Assembly of the United Nations declared 30 July as official International Friendship Day. But there are many countries that celebrate friendship day in different dates.
July 31st – World Ranger Day
July 31st is known as the world ranger day. The first World Ranger Day took place in 2007, the date represented the 15th anniversary of when the IRF (International Ranger Federation) was founded. This organization was founded in 1992. It is celebrated on to commemorate Rangers killed or injured in the line of duty and to celebrate the work Rangers do to protect the world’s natural and cultural heritage.
